Hydraulic remote control for transmission coupling on utility vehicles

Requirement:
To design and deliver a valve block as an external control on special utility vehicles for engaging/disengaging the transmission coupling between an auxiliary hydraulic unit and the main drive, for example for extending/retracting the ladder on fire engines.
The valves must be controlled and operated solely using resources and power sources already available on the vehicle. In addition, it must be possible to vacuum-fill the system.
Herion solution:
Valve block containing two integral hydraulic directional control poppet valves. The valves are actuated pneumatically with air drawn from the vehicle braking system. The electrical system in the vehicle is used to supply the electrical switching pulse. The valve block is designed for use with brake fluid (DOT3, DOT4). An extra seal allows vacuum-filling of the system.
Customer benefits:
- All necessary resources and power sources come from the internal vehicle circuit
- Compact design
- Easy to service
- Costs little to install
- Saves money because there is no need for extra oil containers, hydraulic oil etc.

Switching valves with bayonet connector
Requirement:
Valves are intended for use in utility vehicles and must tolerate high temperatures, have IP69K protection rating and a vibration-proof and leak-free design.
Herion solution:
2/2 or 3/2 directional control poppet valves with bayonet connector to DIN 72585, fully integrated in a valve block
Customer benefits:
- IP69K protection rating
- Reverse polarity protection
- With built-in anti-surge diode
- Proven track record in utility vehicles

Rear-axle controller employing proportional control technology for use in heavy vehicles (refuse collection vehicles)

Requirement:
To design and deliver a steering block with proportional control. The block controls the trailing axle so as to reduce tyre wear and also to keep the axle centred and in a fixed position while reversing. A particular requirement was for the block to have protection against excess pressure arising from extreme force, for instance when driving against a kerb. Further customer requirements were:
- Compact design
- Easy installation
- One connector for all solenoids
Herion solution:
Design and manufacture of a valve block comprising hydraulic proportional directional control valve, directional control poppet valve and pressure control valve. The integral proportional directional control valve controls the hydraulic cylinder for the steering. The built-in poppet valve opens if there is a malfunction, releasing the steering cylinder so that the axle can be aligned without hydraulic control. The pressure control valve absorbs any pressure spikes (e.g. when steering against a kerb). A single bayonet connector is used for the electrical drive for all the components.
Customer benefits:
- Compact design
- Electrical and hydraulic installation requires minimum time and effort
- Entire unit can be replaced for easy servicing
- Able to withstand steam cleaning
- High corrosion resistance

High-precision control of linear drives
Requirement:
To project, develop and manufacture a hydraulically operated step cylinder for the high-precision control of a linear drive (precision = 0,1 mm per stroke). Furthermore, the step cylinder must work almost without leakage.
Herion solution:
Development of a control block with integrated valve step unit. The control block was designed to the individual dimensions requested by the customer and mounted on a cylinder of the HERION hydraulic cylinder range. Maximum operating pressure of the step cylinder: 160 bar
Customer benefits:
- Guarantees the synchronous operation of multiple cylinders that can be controlled independently WITHOUT stroke measuring system
- Leakage-free
- Successfully proven in the field
- Cost-effective solution
